Toxins 2024

The Toxnet group delivered a symposium on 18 January 2024 at the Toxins congress called, ‘Addressing key barriers to optimize patient-centred spasticity care’.

The symposium was opened by one of the Toxnet co-chairs, Gerard Francisco who explained why Toxnet was formed, its mission and achievements to date.

Dr Francesca Bianchi discussed recent research that has been undertaken by the group to identify and rank key barriers that can delay or prevent access to quality, evidenced-based care for patients with post-stroke spasticity.

Dr Jorge Jacinto introduced the new GO-FAST tool* that has been developed by Toxnet to support physicians with a patient-centred approach to goal-setting; a topic that has been identified as one of the key educational needs.

Finally, Dr Stefano Carda led an interactive session, involving the audience with the selection of appropriate goals using the GO-FAST tool for a spasticity patient case.

The Toxnet symposium was very well received by the Toxins audience who congratulated the group on the development of the highly practical GO-FAST tool and welcomed the introduction of future innovations by the Toxnet group to address barriers to optimal spasticity management.
