Andrea Santamato was born in Bari on November 17th 1974. Currently he is Head of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Section at Policlinico Riuniti in Foggia

Biography

Andrea Santamato obtained his degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Bari in 2000 with a score of 110/110 cum laude. In 2004 he became a specialist in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Bari with a clinical and Experimental Thesis entitled: “Treatment of spasticity by combined use of botulinum toxin and shock waves.”

Since June 2021 he has been full professor for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at University of Foggia and is Head of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Section at Policlinico Riuniti in Foggia.

He is member of the Italian Society of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the Italian Society of Neurorehabilitation.

His research interests focus on the study of pharmacological and rehabilitation treatments for spasticity and movement disorders, for brain and spinal cord injuries, for dementia and peripheral nervous system diseases. His interests are also in the use of physical energy and instrumental therapies for osteoarticular diseases.

He has authored approximately 150 scientific papers publised in National and International journals, and is reviewer for several international journals.
