Biography

Alessandro Picelli is associate professor of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine at the Department of Neurosciences, Biomedicine and Movement Sciences, University of Verona, Italy. He is Deputy Director of
the residency program in Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine of the University of Verona, Italy.

Prof. Picelli graduated in 2004 from the University of Padua Medical School, Italy. In 2008 he completed his residency program and received his certification in Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine from the University of Verona, Italy. In 2014 he obtained his PhD degree in Experimental Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Applied to Human Locomotor System from the “Sapienza” University of Rome, Italy.
In 2018 he won the Annual Award of the Italian Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine for the Best Young Researcher.

He is former Secretary General of the European Federation of NeuroRehabilitation Societies (EFNR) and Active Member of the International Neurotoxin Association (INA). He is Board Member of the Canadian Advances in Neuro-Orthopedics For Spasticity Congress (CANOSC). He is Board Member of the Italian Society of Neurological Rehabilitation (SIRN) and Coordinator of its Stroke Section. Furthermore, he coordinates the Physical Therapy section of the Italian Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine.

He is Editorial Board Member of the European Journal of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine and Associate Editori of the following Journals: Toxins, Frontiers in Neurology – Neurorehabilitation, Frontiers in
Human Neuroscience – Motor Neuroscience, Restorative Neurology and Neuroscience.

According to the Scopus bibliometrics, he authored 173 publications (h-index 33; 3286 citations) in the field of Neurorehabilitation.
